Antiquarius 2007 Celebrates 50 Years of Collecting & Raises $700,000

GREENWICH, CT — Antiquarius 2007, the week-long series of pre-holiday events to benefit the Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich took place November 29 through December 5, 2007. The principal fundraising activity to benefit The Historical Society’s education programs at Bush-Holley Historic Site, Antiquarius 2007 included a Patron Party, Gala Preview Party, the 50th Greenwich Antiques Show, Designer Forum of leading interior designers, the popular Holiday House Tour of Greenwich homes and a holiday shopping boutique.

Anne and David Ogilvy were Antiquarius Honorary Chairs and Mayling McCormick and Teresa Kratzman co-chaired the fabulous Greenwich Antiques Show, themed Celebrating 50 Years of Collecting. The fun began November 1 at the Patron Party; At the Hop! sponsored by First Republic Bank. More than 200 Greenwich Historical Society Sponsors, Angels, Benefactors and Patrons donned fashions of the 50s and kicked up their heels at the beautiful Pecksland Road home of Mayling and William McCormick.

Then on Thursday evening, November 29, over 450 Historical Society patrons were once again treated to a special night to preview the Antiques Show.  The Greenwich Civic Center was transformed into a magical world of holiday splendor.  Guests enjoyed music played by Randall Atcheson, champagne and a fabulous array of hors d’oeuvres prepared by Plum Pure Foods and Catering and sponsored by Doyle New York.

Also part of the tradition of events were a Designer Forum moderated by Kathleen Doyle that presented leading designers, Anthony Baratta, William Diamond and David Easton who discussed the latest interior design trends and the Holiday House Tour, chaired by Jennifer Walsh. The 50th Greenwich Antiques Show ran from November 30 through December 2 and featured outstanding exhibitions of antiques and fine art.

The Historical Society of the Town of Greenwich is based at Bush-Holley Historic Site by the Cos Cob harbor on Strickland Road, which includes the Bush-Holley House, education center, archives building, gallery, historic gardens and visitor center.
