Dutch Connections Lecture III
"Dutch Directed Massacres, Launched from Greenwich: 1644"
Missy Wolfe Lecture
7:00- 9:00 p.m. Greenwich Historical Society, 39 Strickland Road, Cos Cob, CT
SOLD OUT
At age 13 Greenwich native Missy Wolfe read Spencer Mead’s Ye Historie of Ye Towne of Greenwich and first learned about a massacre occurring here. Decades later, still wanting to know more and finding little substantive information, Ms. Wolfe decided to conduct original source document research. Learn why Greenwich’s first residents played key roles in the genocidal Kieft’s War of 1644, and how Greenwich was the launch point for multiple Native American massacres by both Dutch and English forces in and beyond the town.
Ms. Wolfe holds a MBA from Columbia University and is completing a Masters degree in Fine Arts. She is also working on a book Greenwich Mean Times; The Earliest History of South Western Connecticut.
