This online curriculum is intended to provide teachers with resources and activities that can extend a student's understanding of the history of slavery in the North. Through the use of maps, posters, diaries, letters, historic documents and photographs, students will be challenged to consider the how northern slavery differed from slavery in the South. Lesson plans are designed for 5^th grade, Middle and High school students. However, since every group of students is unique, teachers are encouraged to adapt the curriculum to suit their students' interests and abilities.
